August 5-9, 2012, Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil

Brazil and China are two of Gold Bricks. Recent years, the collaboration between two countries is very active in all areas. Federal University of Parana and Xian Jiao Tong University have signed the collaboration agreement on exchange professors, students and joint research. Real world problems contain comprehensive issues that require thorough understanding of the underlining principles of physics, mathematical modeling, numerical solution techniques. The Brazil-China symposium on Applied and Computational Mathematics is one of the activities of this collaboration. The purpose of the symposium is to enhance and facilitate contacts and dialogs between specialists of different domains dealing with Applied Mathematics and Computational Mathematics so that new concepts can be discovered and new methodologies can express their power.

The first symposium was hold at Xian Jiao Tong University at Xian, China, Aug. 1-5, 2009. The symposium was success and selected talks are published at Mathemtics and Computer in Simulation. This syposium of the continuous action of this collaboration. Department of Mathematics of Federal University of Parana (UFPR) has long and rich history on collaboration with Chinese academic instutions. The department signed collaboration agreement with Academy of Mathematics and Systematic Science, Chinas Academy of Sciences (CAS), IMCA (Peru) and IMPA (Brazil). There is a joint research project supported by CAPES-Brazil and CAS-China among UFPR, UFSC, UFRJ and CAS with exchange of Ph.D. students, Pos-doctoral students and professors. Department of Mathematics of UfPR has Ph.D. program. Their professors also participate activites of Institute of Industrial Mathematics - UFPR/FIEP which will involve more collaboration with Brazilian Industry, Chinese instituitions and many other countries such as Canada, USA, Sweden etc.

The area in the symposium covers all areas of mathematics, applied mathematics, computational mathematics, industrial mathematics and their applications in real problems.
